THINK! 4 Peace

An intensive programme for reducing vulnerability and increasing resilience to radicalisation, delivered over a matter of months to cohorts of 12-15 14-19 year olds. The approach includes one-to-one initial and exit interviews, continuous self-directed study and social media interaction with project team. Two intensive three-day residential components form the core delivery element.

This tailored programme involves: interaction with speakers from trained panels of experts, survivors and formers; long- and short-form multimedia exposure; simulations and role-play; interrogation of views (not each other); highly participatory and kinaesthetic learning sessions; and the exploration of (social) media narratives, stimulating the creation of autonomous counter/alter-narratives on the part of the young people themselves. THINK! uses such tried-and-tested non-formal learning elements to: cultivate critical thinking skills, including self- and other-awareness; build capability to identify and manage conflicts related to violent extremism; increase awareness of extremism and how to think critically about narratives that condone it. Graduates enter a network of young leaders, where they can pursue personalised, constructive and peaceful alternatives for effecting change.
