Human Security - Aarhus University

The concept of human security was first introduced by the UN in 1994 as a way of approaching the various kinds of insecurity faced by humanity. Unlike development strategies to date, which were nation- and state-focused, this approach focused on how individuals and groups experienced insecurities in their daily lives. A new academic discipline was born.
