Tackling terrorism - the role and responsibilities of local authorities - Resolution 159 (2003)

This report highlights the goals and outcomes of the CLRAE Conference on “Tackling terrorism - the role and responsibilities of local authorities” on 20 and 21 September 2002.

About twenty-seven countries discussed four specific themes:

1. local authorities, organised crime and terrorism,
2. protection of industrial plants and public places,
3. the role of local authorities in promoting dialogue between cultures, ethnic groups and religions,
4. civil defence and crisis management,

and eventually created several recommendations for the involved countries when it comes to tackling terrorism.
